ESB Meetings
The ESB is involved in the running, sponsoring, or the organisation of various events, which fall broadly speaking in 3 categories: If you would like to know the procedures related to these, and how you go about getting involved, please read this extract from the rules book here. ________________________________________________________________________ The European Society of Biomechanics holds an Annual international scientific conference to provide the most up to date research in biomechanics and to provide a forum of discussion. ESB Congress
The 19th Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB2013) will be held at the Conference and Cultural Centre of the University of Patras, Greece, between 25-28 August 2013. www.esbiomech2013.org/ ![]() The 18th Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics ![]() Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is a beautiful, historic city on the Atlantic Ocean. Lisbon has been a point of cultural interchange and encounter for many centuries for visitors and people coming from all over the world. It is a safe and pleasant city where delegates and their companions will feel at ease and will be very well received. Lisbon has a very good weather, in July is mostly sunny and dry, with mildly hot temperatures between 16°C to 30°C. Lisbon location and airport infrastructures make it easily accessible to visitors from all parts of the world. The conference will be held at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), the Engineering School of the Technical University of Lisbon, and organized by an experienced team from IST chaired by Paulo Fernandes, João Folgado and Miguel Silva. All up-to-date information can be obtained at the congress website: www.esbiomech2012.org The 2010 meeting covered all the ESB’s traditional core topics, and also included emerging research areas in which much new and exciting biomechanics research is taking place. A pre-course was part of the programme offering advise and experience by various experts in certain areas of biomechanics applications: Innovative methods for the generation and validation of musculoskeletal models / Arterial Mechanics / Medical Image analysis / Muscle Mechanics. Various plenary sessions addressed current “hot topics” in biomechanics research, and provided valuable insight into the ever-increasing importance of collaborative research, interdisciplinary programs, EU funding opportunities and biomechanical education programmes. Programme Committee The 16th Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics took place in Lucerne (Switzerland) on July 6 - 9, 2008, and was a resounding success. The meeting was organised by the MEM Research Center - ISTB at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and attracted more than 600 abstracts on diverse topics spanning the whole spectrum of the biomechanics field. You can find a report and pictures from the meeting here. ESB Workshop
The workshop was structured into the following themes:
A report on the presentations and awards that took place at the workshop is contained in the Autumn 2009 newsletter: http://www.esbiomech.org/Section/newsletter |
