Treasurer: Dieter Pahr

Dieter Pahr studied mechanical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) and received his doctorate in the field of lightweight design and aerospace engineering in 2003 working mainly with composite materials. In 2006 he joined the newly founded biomechanics group of Prof. Philippe Zysset at the TU-Wien where he habilitated in 2008. Over the years he was awarded an Assistant and Associate Professor in Computational Biomechanics at TU Wien.
In 2016, he was promoted to a full professor in Musculoskeletal Biomechanics at the newly founded Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences in Krems. In 2021, he was also promoted to a full professor in Computational Biomechanics at TU Wien. Currently, he has a dual appointment and both groups are working together within the interuniversity biomechanics laboratory (https://colab.tuwien.ac.at/display/IUBL). The main focus is computational (medical imaging, micro FEA, biomechanical simulation, medical software development) and experimental biomechanics (mechanical testing of soft and hard biological tissues, advanced 3D printing). He is an author of over 137 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is an ESB member since 2010.
